Packaging Design
Canadian based-indie sewing company, Blackbird Fabrics, produces their own in-house line of garment sewing labels, which needed packaging as joyful as the labels themselves.
Problems to solve from the design brief:
Label packaging must be useable for any of the thirteen garment label SKU’s (no contents specific indications on the envelopes)
Wholesale compatible—have the functionality to display on a hanging rack
Flexible system of displaying the contents
Capture brand value of joy at every turn—no boring white envelopes please
Solution: an envelope style package with a stickering system to indicate contents. Special printing techniques used: blind embossing, foil debossing, and a wavey die cut.
The ‘Self Care’ collection of labels, pictured below, was designed in collaboration with Alex Smyth (@guch_world), and is all about remembering to slow down, take it easy, and be kind to yourself.

The feel of the packaging had to meet the fun of the contents, and the pattern in which people will use them with.
