Threadleaf & Company helps people embrace sustainable living in multiple forms: personal style, gardening and greener living.

The name “Threadleaf & Company” is derived from the idea of ‘having company over’ and bringing like-minded people together to learn and flourish. The concept of a community minded sustainability hub is the backbone of both Threadleaf & Company’s name, and its visual identity.

Threadleaf & Company is a holistic sustainable living lifestyle business in Alexandria, VA founded by Nicole McGrew. Nicole practiced law for twelve years in Washington, DC prior to opening Threadleaf as a brick and mortar store selling sustainable women’s fashion in 2018. Three years after opening, Nicole wanted to grow her business to not just center on her passion for sustainable fashion, but to fully encompass her other interests that make up a sustainable and considered life: gardening, art, reading, educational workshops, and community engagement.

Studio Studio was contracted to help Nicole make this shift in her business, so we developed a new name, identity suite, and website to reflect her continued emphasis on the company she and her business are keeping. Visually, all brand aspects appear calm and inspired by nature: the hues, letterform gestures, and soft photography all battle against the noisy consumption-focused world we live in, and act as a refuge to quiet the noise.

Brand typefaces are DM Sans, Work Sans, & Lora. Logos use modified Pangram Pangram Woodland.

Pairing brand typefaces
with the logo marks

DM Sans compliments the main wordmark: the Cap and X heights mirror one another, and the aperture of the lower case a mirrors a similar gesture to the wordmark.
